Attending an Atlassian Community Event is always a highlight, but attending one that is also a celebration is a unique experience. On May 2nd, the ACE Tughlakabad chapter in Delhi marked its first anniversary with an event focused on the power of Automation Rules and Forge Apps. It was a fantastic day, not just for learning, but for connecting with the local Atlassian family over a very tasty celebration!
The Setting: An Anniversary to Remember
From the moment we arrived, the celebratory mood was evident. The venue was beautifully decorated, centering around a gorgeous blue and white balloon arch (a perfect match for the classic Atlassian blue!). The "Happy Birthday" backdrop set the stage for a day of milestones, both for the community and for our understanding of Atlassian’s capabilities.
The venue itself provided the perfect backdrop for the dual nature of the event—one-part serious learning, one-part joyous community milestone.
The Learnings: Unlocking Forge's Potential
The event wasn't just about party poppers; it was packed with valuable technical insights. The presentation (delivered by Akash Singh, Atlassian Consultant) delved into automation and specifically, the expanding capabilities of Forge.
Key Takeaways:
Deeper Automation: The core focus was on how users can push Jira’s standard automation further.
The Power of Forge Apps: We explored the new frontiers that Forge—Atlassian’s serverless app development platform—unlocks.
Language Flexibility: The announcement that stood out was Forge's enhanced support. While it uses React APIs for frontend development, developers can now utilize almost any language of their choice on the backend to automate complex Jira processes. This significantly lowers the barrier for custom development!
The Vibe: Tech, Questions, and a Robotic Prize
The energy in Delhi was high! The presentation was dynamic, sparking numerous intelligent questions from an engaged audience that was truly enthusiastic about extending Atlassian functionality. It was a clear demonstration of how robust the local tech scene is.
Following the deep dive, the tension (and fun) ramped up with a live interactive quiz. Using a QR code, the entire room competed simultaneously. Congratulations to the winner, who took home a spectacular blocky wooden miniature robot—a very cool piece of tech swag!
The Celebration: A Birthday Tradition
As a community celebration, the day naturally culminated in a ceremony. Seeing two tiers of community cake—and helping kick off the party by bursting the confetti cracker—was a real highlight.
The cake cutting, with community leaders and attendees gathered around, was the perfect symbol of a successful first year and the connections made.
The Food: Ending on a High Note
The most important part of any community event (and we are slightly biased) is the networking lunch. The food was exceptional. After absorbing so much technical knowledge, enjoying a delicious meal of classic paneer and rice—plus that mandatory slice of anniversary cake—was the perfect way to recharge and connect with other attendees one-on-one.
Looking Forward
A huge thank you to the organizers of ACE Tughlakabad for such a seamless event. It’s incredibly encouraging to see how active and innovative the Atlassian user base is in Delhi. The new capabilities announced for Forge guarantee that next year will see even more sophisticated applications of the platform. We are already looking forward to see what amazing use cases we will celebrate next year! Happy Birthday, Tughlakabad!
